Dried fruit have therapeutic virtues, which have been recognized for centuries.
A good source of vitamins, mineral and fibre, dried fruits provide indispensable nutrients to the body often only found in poor quantities in today’s diet. The fibre content is more beneficial than that found in fresh fruit and helps to eliminate biliary acids and lower cholesterol. The mineral content such as calcium, potassium, iron and magnesium is multiplied by 3 to 5 compared to that of fresh fruit. This makes dried fruit a vital addition to fitness and health.
Everyone can enjoy dried fruit at various times of the day : at breakfast, as a snack, in salads, at teatime, with an aperitif, before or after strenuous activities or simply as a treat.
In this way, dried fruit can contribute towards a healthy balanced diet :
- For children and adolescents with high levels of energy, throughout their growth and during activities, who enjoy large practical snacks,
- The active adult who sometimes feels the need to take a fortifying break to recharge energy levels and to sustain them,
- The elderly who often suffer from intestinal problems and who are looking for healthy and easily digestible treats,
- Sportsmen/women (walkers, hikers, cyclists, alpinists…) providing muscle power during strenuous activities.
